Kitchen Project Management Doncaster

Free Consultation

If you've ever tried to book a kitchen fitter, a plumber, an electrician and a plasterer separately for the same job, you'll know the real headache isn't any single trade, it's the gaps between them. A worktop template gets missed because the joiner and the fitter weren't talking to each other, an electrician turns up before first-fix plumbing is done, or a delivery of units sits in your hallway for a week because nobody scheduled the fitter to start. Kitchen project management in Doncaster, as we run it, is built to close those gaps: one dedicated project manager plans and runs every phase of your installation, from the first design sketch through to the final inspection, so you're dealing with one person rather than juggling five separate trades' diaries yourself.

We offer this project management free with every full kitchen we design, supply and fit, because in our view a kitchen is only as good as the coordination behind it. Materials matter too, and if you're weighing up worktop options as part of your build, our kitchen worktops page covers the granite, quartz, Dekton and laminate choices your project manager will help you specify and schedule for template and fit.

What's covered under your project manager

  • Your free initial design consultation, including CAD visuals of the finished kitchen and a written quotation before any work is booked
  • A single named project manager who is your point of contact for the whole job, rather than separate calls to a fitter, plumber and electrician
  • Scheduling and sequencing of every trade: carpentry and joinery, plumbing and appliance connections, electrics, wall and floor tiling, and plastering
  • Ordering, tracking and timing of deliveries so units, worktops and appliances arrive in the right order and don't sit blocking your hallway for days
  • Coordination of any remedial building work needed to get a room ready for a kitchen fit, such as removing a stud wall or making good after an old fitted unit comes out
  • Health and safety oversight on site, including who's qualified to do what (gas work only ever goes to our Gas Safe engineers, electrics only to Part P approved electricians)
  • Clearance of your old kitchen and all waste materials under the company's own registered waste carrier licence, so nothing gets fly-tipped or left for you to dispose of
  • Final inspection and snagging before handover, plus the paperwork for your 5-year labour and installation guarantee and 2-year product guarantee

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • The free project management applies to kitchens we design, supply and fit as a full package, not to units or worktops bought through a separate retailer that you then want us to install
  • Structural building regulations applications and building control sign-off for significant structural changes (such as removing a load-bearing wall) sit outside routine project management and are scoped and costed separately if your job needs them
  • Work outside the kitchen area, for example a wider extension build or works to other rooms, is not covered unless it's specifically agreed and quoted as part of your project
  • Formal liaison with third parties such as a mortgage lender's surveyor isn't a standard part of the service; if a valuation query comes up we'll answer direct questions about the work, but we're not a party to that process
  • Skip permits are arranged where a skip is needed on a public road, but any council permit fee itself is a pass-through cost, not something absorbed into the free project management

How a project-managed kitchen actually runs, start to finish

  1. Free design consultation -- A designer comes to your home, measures the space, listens to how you actually use a kitchen (where the bins go, whether you need a landing spot for shopping, how many people cook at once) and works up CAD visuals so you can see the layout before committing to anything.
  2. Written quotation and handover to your project manager -- Once the design and specification are agreed, you get a written quotation covering the full scope and cost. At this point your job is handed to a named project manager who becomes your one point of contact for everything that follows.
  1. Sourcing, scheduling and logistics -- Units, worktops and appliances are ordered from our suppliers and a fitting schedule is built around realistic lead times, so trades aren't booked to arrive before their materials do. This is usually where a self-managed renovation goes wrong, with a plumber turning up to a kitchen that still has no units in it.
  2. Strip-out and first fix -- The old kitchen comes out and is cleared under our registered waste carrier licence. Any remedial building work, first-fix plumbing and first-fix electrics happen in the sequence that makes sense for your specific layout, not a generic checklist.
  3. Fitting, tiling, plastering and connections -- Carpentry and joinery installation, tiling, plastering, second-fix plumbing (sinks, taps, dishwasher and washing machine connections) and second-fix electrics are carried out by our own qualified tradespeople, with gas hobs or range cookers connected and certified only by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
  4. Snagging, inspection and handover -- Your project manager walks the finished kitchen with you, picks up any snags before they become your problem, and hands over the guarantee paperwork, so you know exactly what's covered and for how long.

What it costs, and how the free project management fits in

Project management itself doesn't carry a separate fee when it's part of a full kitchen design, supply and install package with us, it's included, not an add-on you're asked to pay for once you've already committed. What you're actually paying for is the kitchen and the fitting work, and that figure varies a lot depending on the size of the room, the specification you choose and how much building work is involved. As a broad guide, industry cost data (Checkatrade, 2026) puts a full new kitchen supply and installation at roughly £6,000 to £15,000 or more, with most homeowners in that market ending up somewhere between £8,000 and £25,000 depending on units, worktops and appliances.

Where your kitchen needs more structural work, such as moving a wall, changing the room layout or upgrading the electrics beyond what the fit-out itself requires, that pushes the figure up and gets scoped and priced separately as part of your written quotation. None of these ranges replace an actual figure for your kitchen: the only way to get a firm number is a site visit, because room size, existing wiring and plumbing, and the finishes you want all move the price. We also offer finance options if you'd rather spread the cost, and every quotation is written and given to you before any work starts, so there's nothing added later that you haven't already agreed to.

Project-managed fit versus booking trades yourself

Premium Kitchens of Doncaster (in-house project management) Hiring an independent project manager separately Booking and coordinating trades yourself
Point of contact One named project manager for the whole job One person, but not the one doing the design or supplying materials You, coordinating each trade's diary directly

What a project manager on your kitchen job is actually accountable for

A project manager only earns their place if something goes wrong and they're the one who sorts it, not the trade who caused it. That's the real test we set ourselves: when a plasterer's schedule slips because plumbing overran, or a delivery arrives short a unit, it's your project manager's job to catch it and re-sequence the day rather than leaving you to notice a fitter standing around with nothing to do. We can commit to that because every trade under that project manager is answerable to us directly, not booked in as a subcontractor for the week.

Joinery and cabinetry work is carried out by City & Guilds qualified joiners, plumbing connections by NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds trained plumbers, and any electrical installation is signed off by a Part P approved electrician; if your kitchen has a gas hob or range cooker, that connection goes to a Gas Safe registered engineer and nobody else touches it. Plastering is handled by a master plasterer who's been doing this on Doncaster sites for decades, which matters more than it sounds on older properties where walls are rarely flat. We've picked up enough kitchens from previous "bargain" fitters to know where the shortcuts usually hide, wiring boxed in behind units instead of properly terminated, taps that weep within a year, that sort of thing, which is part of why the whole job carries a 5-year labour and installation guarantee rather than just a guarantee on the units themselves. We're also members of the Construction Industry Training Board and the Federation of Small Businesses, for what that's worth to you as a buyer checking who you're dealing with before a project manager sets foot in your kitchen.

Where we project manage kitchen installations

Doncaster is where most of our project-managed kitchens happen, and the town's mix of housing stock is exactly why coordinated trades matter. A straight swap refit in a 1990s estate house in Bessacarr or Cantley is a different job to a kitchen going into a period stone property in Sprotbrough or a market town house in Bawtry or Tickhill, where older wiring, solid walls or awkward room shapes mean more remedial building work needs planning around the fit rather than discovered halfway through it. Former colliery terraces in Askern, Stainforth, Thorne, Mexborough and Conisbrough often bring their own quirks, from suspended timber floors to walls that were never designed for a run of heavy wall units, while newer estates around Auckley, Finningley and Blaxton near Doncaster Sheffield Airport tend to be more straightforward first-fix jobs on modern stud walls and standard consumer units.

We also cover Rossington, Armthorpe, Branton, Woodfield Plantation, Adwick le Street, Carcroft, Dunscroft, Dunsville, Bentley, Balby, Wheatley, Wheatley Hills, Kirk Sandall and Warmsworth, along with Doncaster City Centre itself, where Victorian terraces and later infill housing sit side by side. Beyond Doncaster we take on project-managed kitchens further into South Yorkshire and the wider region, including York, Rotherham (where our registered office sits, at 49A Avondale Road, S61 1SG), Sheffield, Barnsley, Leeds, Wakefield, Hull, and into Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire. Wherever the job is, the same crew structure and the same project manager model applies.

Questions homeowners ask about how we manage a kitchen project

What does kitchen project management include here?

It covers everything between your first design conversation and the final inspection: the design and CAD visuals, the written quotation, scheduling every trade (joinery, plumbing, electrics, tiling, plastering, gas connections), managing deliveries so materials arrive when the fitter needs them, any remedial building work to get the room ready, waste clearance, and snagging at the end. You deal with your project manager throughout, not each trade individually.

Do I actually need a project manager for a kitchen renovation?

You don't strictly need one, plenty of people book trades themselves and it works out fine. But a kitchen involves more overlapping trades in a small space than almost any other room in the house, and the usual failure point is sequencing, not skill: a tiler booked before plastering's finished, a fitter waiting on units that haven't arrived. Project management exists to catch that before it costs you a delay.

How does having a project manager actually reduce the stress of a renovation?

Mostly by removing the admin. Instead of five phone numbers and five schedules to track, you have one person who already knows the full sequence and chases the trades on your behalf. If something needs to shift, that's their job to sort and communicate to you, not yours to renegotiate with each tradesperson separately.

Who actually coordinates the plumbers, electricians and gas engineers during the fit?

Your named project manager sequences their work, but the trades themselves are our own employed and qualified people, not agency labour booked job to job. Plumbing is done by NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds trained plumbers, electrics by Part P approved electricians, and any gas hob or range cooker connection only by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

How much does kitchen project management cost in Doncaster?

Nothing extra, it's included free when you buy a full kitchen design, supply and installation package from us. What you pay for is the kitchen itself and the fitting work, which typically runs from around £6,000 up to £15,000 or more, with most homeowners spending between £8,000 and £25,000 depending on specification and how much building work is involved. A firm figure needs a site visit.

What's the actual difference between a kitchen fitter and a project manager?

A fitter installs units, worktops and appliances. A project manager plans and sequences everything around that, from ordering materials at the right time to booking plumbing and electrics in the correct order and handling any building work in between, so the fitter can actually get on and fit without waiting on someone else's delay.

How long does a fully project-managed kitchen take from start to finish?

It depends on the scope. A straight swap refit with no structural changes can be done in around one to two weeks once materials are on site. A kitchen needing remedial building work, a layout change or a new stud wall takes longer, and your project manager will give you a realistic schedule once the design and specification are finalised, rather than a generic estimate.

Is a self-build extension kitchen managed differently to a straight swap refit?

Yes. A refit into an existing kitchen footprint is largely about sequencing trades within a known space. A kitchen going into a new extension involves coordinating around the build programme itself, first-fix plumbing and electrics before plastering and flooring go in, and confirming the room is genuinely ready (level floor, services in the right place) before the kitchen fit can start, so timing is set by the wider build, not just our schedule.

Do you handle building control applications or planning permissions as part of project management?

Routine kitchen fits generally don't need building control involvement. Where a job does involve significant structural work, such as removing a load-bearing wall, that's scoped and costed separately from the standard free project management, and we'll be straight with you about what's needed before work starts rather than assuming it's covered.

Get your kitchen planned properly from day one

The best time to sort out how your kitchen project will actually run is before any trade sets foot on site, not halfway through when a delivery's late or two trades have double-booked the same day. Book your free design consultation and you'll get CAD visuals, a written quotation, and a named project manager attached to your job from that first conversation onward, so you know exactly who's coordinating what and when.
