If your units are structurally sound but the finish has simply had its day, vinyl wrapping is usually the more cost-effective route than a full respray or replacement - though for a fully hand-sprayed lacquer finish rather than a laminated film, our kitchen spraying service is worth comparing first. Many wrap jobs are finished off with new handles, hinges or soft-close runners at the same time, which you can see on our kitchen cabinet hardware page.

What You're Paying For in a Vinyl Wrap Job

  • Cabinet doors, drawer fronts, kickboards and end panels wrapped in 3M Di-Noc or Cover Styl' architectural-grade film
  • Worktops, breakfast bars, island units and appliance housing panels where the substrate is suitable
  • Surface preparation - cleaning, light sanding, filling scratches and gouges before any film is applied
  • Minor repairs carried out as part of the job: re-gluing loose joints, adjusting wobbly doors, replacing worn door seals
  • Hardware replacement and upgrades - hinges, handles, drawer runners and soft-close mechanisms
  • Interior organisation systems and lighting integration where requested
  • Doors and drawer fronts removed to our workshop for wrapping, with fixed elements wrapped on site

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Changing door profiles, adding glass panels or altering unit sizes - these need replacement, not wrapping
  • Structural repair of swollen, delaminated or water-damaged carcasses - assessed and quoted separately before any wrapping starts
  • Broken hinges, damaged drawer boxes or joint failures, which are repaired first rather than wrapped over
  • Antique or French-polished pieces, where traditional restoration methods are recommended instead of vinyl

What Happens Between Quote and Reveal

  1. Assessment and film sample match -- We look at the condition of the carcass, hinges and door profiles on site, and match a film finish - 3M Di-Noc or Cover Styl' - against a physical sample rather than a screen. A written quote follows with nothing held back for extras.
  2. Deposit and date -- A small deposit secures your booking slot and the balance is due on completion, with no payment upfront for materials.
  3. Strip-down, workshop transfer and repair -- Doors and drawer fronts come off and travel to our workshop. While they're away, we clean, sand and repair loose joints, dents or worn seals on the carcass and any fixed panels left in your kitchen.
  1. Film application -- Doors are wrapped in the workshop using heated air tools to bed the film into edges and profiles without bubbling, while kickboards, end panels and other fixed elements are wrapped on site to match.
  2. Reassembly, hardware and handover -- Hinges, handles, drawer runners or soft-close mechanisms are fitted or upgraded, everything is refitted and adjusted, and we send before-and-after photos once edge sealing and finish have been checked.

Vinyl Wrap vs Spraying vs Full Replacement

Option Typical cost Time involved Warranty Best suited to
Vinyl wrapping (this service) Around 60-70% less than full replacement Usually 1-2 days, most of it done in our workshop 12 years on the film, 5 years on our workmanship Sound units with tired, scratched or dated doors and surfaces that just need a new look
Kitchen spraying Sits between wrapping and full replacement Doors sprayed off-site in a controlled workshop environment Backed by our standard workmanship guarantee A painted, brush-free lacquer finish colour-matched to Farrow & Ball or Little Greene rather than a laminated film
Full replacement The highest cost of the three, but the only way to change layout or unit sizes Longer - a full strip-out, supply and fit rather than a facelift 5-year labour and installation guarantee, 2-year product guarantee Changing door profiles, adding glass panels, resizing units, or where carcasses are structurally unsound

When We'll Recommend Wrapping - And When We Won't

Vinyl wrap only looks good for the long haul if what's underneath it is sound, so before we quote we check for swelling around the sink cut-out, delamination at the edges and whether the door profile is simple enough for heated film to bed into the corners without lifting - deep-routed shaker grooves and ornate mouldings often don't wrap cleanly, and that's a job for spraying or a full replacement instead. Because we run kitchen spraying and full fitting alongside wrapping, the same visit gives you a straight comparison rather than a wrap-only sales pitch pushing film onto units that would do better sprayed or replaced.

Doors and drawer fronts travel to our workshop at Avondale Road in Rotherham so the film can be heat-formed properly rather than rushed on your kitchen table, and any old units, hardware or packaging we clear away go under our own registered waste carrier licence. Finance is available if you'd rather spread the cost of the work.

Doncaster and South Yorkshire: Where Wrapping Works Best

We wrap kitchens across Doncaster and the wider South Yorkshire area our fitting teams already cover, though doors and drawer fronts still travel back to our workshop at Avondale Road in Rotherham for the film to be heat-formed rather than being wrapped on your kitchen table.

In practice, whether a wrap is the right call often comes down to the age and style of the kitchen as much as the postcode: the flat-fronted MFC and handleless doors common on newer estates around Cantley, Bessacarr, Auckley and Hatfield take architectural film cleanly and are usually straightforward wrap jobs, while the shaker-style doors with routed grooves found in a lot of the older terraced housing around Hyde Park, Balby and Wheatley are more hit-and-miss - film can lift out of a deep profile over time, so on those we're more likely to recommend spraying once we've had a look. Town-centre flats and conversions near the Interchange and Waterdale bring their own access problems, narrow stairwells and nowhere to park a van outside, which is one reason the doors come off and go to the workshop rather than being sanded and wrapped in situ. We also cover Conisbrough, Mexborough, Thorne, Armthorpe and Rotherham itself, given that's where the workshop sits.
