Whether a hob's stopped heating evenly or a full oven, hob and range cooker upgrade is part of a wider kitchen job, getting it connected safely is work for a qualified engineer rather than a fitter with a socket wrench. We handle gas and electrical appliance installation across Doncaster and South Yorkshire, from a straightforward oven swap to a dual-fuel range cooker that needs a new circuit and gas connection built from scratch.

Every appliance is connected and certified by the trade it actually calls for -- a Gas Safe registered engineer on anything gas-fired, a Part P approved electrician on the wiring -- so you're left with a working appliance and the paperwork to prove it was done properly.

What's Included When We Supply and Fit Your Oven or Hob

  • Removal and responsible disposal of your old oven, hob or range cooker under our own registered waste carrier licence
  • A dedicated electrical circuit (16A, 32A or 45A depending on the appliance) installed or upgraded, tested and certified to BS 7671
  • Gas Safe registered connection, pressure testing and carbon monoxide testing for any gas hob, dual-fuel or all-gas range cooker
  • Fitting into your existing cabinet housing, or liaising with our own joinery team where a housing unit needs building or altering to size
  • Ventilation gap checks, heat-resistant cabling and secure mounting so the appliance meets its manufacturer's clearance requirements
  • Full functional testing and a walk-through of the controls, timer and safety features before we leave
  • An Electrical Installation Certificate and/or Gas Safety Certificate handed over on completion

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Building a new run of kitchen cabinetry to accommodate a different-sized appliance -- that's priced as joinery work, not appliance installation
  • Consumer unit or fuse board upgrades, if a survey shows your existing supply can't safely take the extra circuit
  • Structural work such as floor reinforcement or extra ducted extraction, occasionally needed for heavy range cookers in older properties
  • Replacement cookware for induction hobs -- we'll tell you which of your existing pans will and won't work, but new pans aren't included
  • Appliance servicing once the manufacturer's warranty and our own installation guarantee period have passed

How We Handle an Oven or Hob Installation, Start to Finish

  1. Initial call -- You tell us what's failed or what you're upgrading, whether it's gas or electric, and roughly what your current housing looks like -- a photo helps us prepare.
  2. Site visit and survey -- An engineer checks the housing dimensions, existing electrical circuit or gas supply, and ventilation before anything is ordered, so there are no surprises on installation day.
  3. Appliance supply -- We order your chosen Neff, Bosch, AEG or Hotpoint appliance and schedule any electrical or gas upgrade work alongside it.
  4. Installation day -- The old appliance is disconnected and taken away, the new one is wired or connected, and every circuit and gas joint is tested before it's switched on.
  1. Certification and handover -- You get your Electrical Installation Certificate and/or Gas Safety Certificate and a full demonstration of the controls and safety features.
  2. Aftercare -- If anything about your new appliance doesn't seem right in the weeks after, a call to us gets it sorted under the installation guarantee.

What an Oven or Hob Installation Costs

Entry-level induction hobs start from around £299 for the appliance itself, with single ovens, double ovens and range cookers priced well above that depending on brand, capacity and features such as pyrolytic self-cleaning or steam assist. Installation labour on top of the appliance price depends mainly on what your kitchen already has: swapping a like-for-like gas hob or oven into an existing, correctly wired housing costs less than fitting an induction hob where a new 32A circuit has to be run, or a range cooker that needs both gas and electric supplies plus floor reinforcement.

Because every kitchen's wiring, gas supply and cabinet housing is different, we don't quote a fixed price over the phone -- a free site visit lets us see the actual job and give you a written quotation before any work starts, with finance options available if you'd rather spread the cost.

Comparing Your Built-In Oven and Hob Options

Appliance type Typical size Connection required Best suited to
Single built-in oven 60cm wide 16A or 32A dedicated circuit A straightforward swap, or a compact kitchen with one main cook
Double built-in oven 60cm wide, two cavities 32A or 45A dedicated circuit Families cooking multiple dishes at once or batch-cooking
Integrated oven Hidden behind a matching cabinet door Same electrical needs as a standard built-in, plus specific door hinges and a ventilated housing A handleless or fully fitted kitchen look
Induction hob Worktop-mounted, 4 or 5 zone Dedicated 32A circuit and compatible magnetic-base cookware Fast heat-up, easier cleaning and lower running costs than gas or ceramic
Range cooker 60cm to 150cm wide Gas, electric or dual-fuel; may need floor reinforcement and anti-tip fixing Serious cooks and larger households wanting oven and hob capacity in one unit

Why Doncaster Homeowners Trust Us With Gas and Electrical Appliance Work

Fitting an oven or hob properly sits right at the point where carpentry, electrics and gas safety meet, so who does the work matters. Our electricians are Part P approved, and every gas hob, dual-fuel or all-gas range cooker is connected and commissioned only by a Gas Safe registered engineer -- not a general fitter working outside their qualification. Where a housing unit needs building or altering to take a new appliance, that's done by our City & Guilds qualified joiners rather than handed off to a separate subcontractor, because kitchen fitting and appliance installation run as one in-house team here rather than several tradespeople booked individually.

That accountability runs right through to the end of the job: a free, no-obligation site visit and written quotation come before any work starts, your old appliance leaves under our own registered waste carrier licence rather than sitting in the driveway waiting for a skip, and the finished work carries a 5-year labour and installation guarantee plus a 2-year guarantee on the appliance itself -- cover that's easier to stand behind when CITB and FSB membership already hold us to trade standards a lot of one-man fitters simply aren't measured against.

Doncaster, Rotherham and the Surrounding Towns We Cover

Doncaster is our main working area, and our registered office is a short drive away in Rotherham, so a site visit or call-out rarely means a long trip for our engineers. We regularly work through the towns and villages ringing Doncaster -- Bawtry and Tickhill, where older and conservation-area properties often need the floor reinforcement or extra ventilation a heavy range cooker demands, through to newer estates such as Rossington and Woodfield Plantation, where integrated ovens behind handleless cabinet doors are the more common request. Coverage extends across South Yorkshire into Rotherham, Sheffield and Barnsley, and further out to Leeds, Wakefield, York, Hull, and into Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, so a job from further afield is still worth a call rather than assuming it's outside our patch.

Oven, Hob and Range Cooker Installation Questions

How long does it take to fit a new oven, hob or range cooker?

A straightforward like-for-like swap, where the existing circuit or gas supply is already correctly sized, can usually be done in a single visit. Where a new 32A or 45A circuit needs running for an induction hob, or a range cooker needs both gas and electric supplies plus anti-tip fixing, that extra work is built into the site visit and quotation so installation day itself isn't held up by anything unexpected.

Can I supply my own oven or hob for you to fit, or do I need to buy through you?

We can fit an appliance you've bought yourself as well as supplying one -- Neff, Bosch, AEG, Hotpoint or another make. The main thing checked at the site visit is whether the appliance's dimensions and connection requirements match your existing housing and circuit, since that affects the quote either way.

Will my existing pans work with an induction hob?

Only pans with a magnetic base will heat on an induction hob, which rules out plain aluminium, copper and some stainless steel cookware. At the site visit we'll tell you which of your current pans are compatible and which aren't, but replacement cookware itself isn't part of the installation.

Do I actually need a Gas Safe engineer for a gas hob, or can any kitchen fitter connect it?

Gas appliances have to be connected by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and that's who carries out the pressure testing and carbon monoxide testing on every gas hob, dual-fuel or all-gas range cooker we fit. A general fitter connecting gas without that registration is working outside what they're legally permitted to do.

What if my kitchen's wiring can't take the circuit my new appliance needs?

This is what the site survey is there to catch. If your existing supply can't safely take the extra circuit, that sometimes means a consumer unit or fuse board upgrade, which gets flagged and quoted for separately rather than discovered part-way through installation day.

Can any kitchen take a range cooker, or does the cabinetry need to change?

It depends on the current housing and, in some older properties, the floor. Range cookers from 60cm up to 150cm wide are heavy enough that anti-tip fixing and occasionally floor reinforcement are needed, and if the existing cabinet run doesn't fit the appliance you want, building or altering it is joinery work priced separately from the installation itself.

How much does professional oven or hob installation cost?

Appliance prices start from around £299 for an entry-level induction hob and rise from there depending on brand and features. Installation labour on top depends on what your kitchen already has -- a like-for-like swap into existing, correctly wired housing costs less than a new circuit or a range cooker needing both gas and electric work. A free site visit gets you a written quotation rather than a phone estimate.

What paperwork do I get once the installation is finished?

An Electrical Installation Certificate for any new or upgraded circuit, and a Gas Safety Certificate for any gas connection, along with a walk-through of the appliance's controls and safety features before we leave.

Is there a guarantee on the installation?

Yes -- the finished installation carries a 5-year labour and installation guarantee, and the appliance itself carries a 2-year guarantee, so if anything about the fitting doesn't seem right afterwards, it's covered.

Book a Site Visit Before an Old Appliance Fails Completely

A faulty gas connection or an overloaded circuit is a safety issue, not just an inconvenience, so it's worth having it looked at before an ageing oven or hob gets worse rather than after it stops working altogether. Get in touch for a free site visit and a written quotation, and you'll know exactly what your kitchen needs before any work starts.
