What Our Smart Appliance Installation Actually Covers

  • A pre-installation survey to check your existing electrics, wifi coverage and where the appliance needs to sit
  • Delivery, positioning and connection of the appliance - fridge, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, washing machine or dryer
  • Any extra electrical circuit or wiring the appliance needs, carried out by Part P approved electricians
  • Wifi signal testing throughout the kitchen, with a booster or extender fitted where the signal is weak
  • Setup of the appliance's own app plus integration with Samsung SmartThings, Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Apple HomeKit
  • Voice control tested on-site so commands work before we leave, not left for you to troubleshoot
  • Hands-on training on the apps and voice commands, with follow-up support if something needs adjusting afterwards

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • The appliance itself isn't part of the labour price - each unit is quoted separately depending on the model you choose
  • Your ongoing broadband/internet subscription - the connected features still rely on your own home internet
  • Gas hob or range cooker connection, which is booked and carried out separately by our Gas Safe registered engineers
  • A full consumer unit upgrade or extensive rewiring, if the survey finds your existing electrics can't take the new circuit - this is quoted as additional work
  • Cabinetry or worktop alterations needed to fit a different-sized appliance - that's priced as part of a wider kitchen fitting job, not a standalone appliance visit

We Don't Call The Job Finished Until The App And Voice Control Work

A lot of "smart appliance fitting" is really just standard installation with a sticker on the box - plug it in, connect the water or power, and leave the wifi pairing and voice control for you to sort out later, usually after a call to the manufacturer's helpline. We do that part on-site: once the appliance is connected, we check the wifi signal actually reaches it, pair it to its own app and to Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings or HomeKit as needed, and run through the voice commands before anyone leaves the kitchen, so you're not troubleshooting a dropped connection on your own that evening. We then walk you through the app itself - not a printed manual, but showing you on your phone how scheduling, remote start and voice control work for that specific appliance - and you can call us back if a router change or software update later throws something off. Where a new circuit is needed to run the appliance, that work is carried out and signed off by a Part P approved electrician as standard.

Where We Fit Smart Kitchen Appliances

Doncaster is where most of our smart appliance installations happen, and the age of the local housing stock is exactly why the wifi and electrical checks matter - solid stone walls in older parts of Sprotbrough or Warmsworth block a router signal in a way a 1990s semi in Cantley never will, and a Victorian terrace in Balby or Wheatley Hills often needs an extra socket or circuit that a new-build in Woodfield Plantation already has. We also cover the market towns around Doncaster - Bawtry, Tickhill, Thorne and Askern - and out towards Rossington, Finningley and Hatfield. Our crew is based at Avondale Road in Rotherham, so the A1(M) and M18 put Sheffield, Barnsley, Leeds and Wakefield within easy reach for the same installation standards, and we take on larger kitchen and appliance projects further afield in Nottingham, Derby and Hull when the job calls for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do Smart Kitchen Appliances Save Money?

This is the question we hear most from practical Doncaster families. Smart appliances save money in several ways that add up over time. Real savings our customers report: 20-30% reduction in energy bills through optimised usage Less food waste thanks to better inventory management Longer appliance lifespan due to predictive maintenance Time savings worth hundreds of pounds annually A family in Conisbrough calculated they save £40 monthly on their grocery bill since installing a smart fridge with inventory tracking. Over five years, that's £2,400 - more than the fridge cost!

Do Smart Appliances Work Without the Internet?

Every smart appliance in our showroom works perfectly without the internet - you just lose the connected features. This is important for older customers or those with unreliable broadband. What works offline: Basic cooking, cooling, and cleaning functions Manual controls and displays Safety features and automatic shut-offs Timer and delay start functions What needs internet: Remote monitoring and control App notifications and alerts Voice commands and smart home integration Software updates and new features

Can I Control All Smart Appliances From One App?

Unfortunately, not quite. Most manufacturers have their own apps, but we set up integration systems that bring everything together. Popular integration platforms: Samsung SmartThings - Works with most brands Amazon Alexa - Voice control for nearly everything Google Home - Alternative voice control option Apple HomeKit - For iPhone and iPad users We spend time during installation showing you the most efficient way to control your appliances. Most customers end up using voice commands for daily tasks and apps for detailed settings.

Are Smart Kitchen Appliances Safe From Hackers?

Security is a legitimate concern, especially for families in Doncaster who've heard scary stories about smart home hacking. We take appliance security seriously and include protection setup in every installation. Security measures we implement: Strong, unique passwords for each device Regular software updates to patch vulnerabilities Secure network configuration with proper encryption Guest network setup to isolate smart appliances The truth is, modern smart appliances are much more secure than older internet-connected devices. Manufacturers learned from early mistakes and now build security into every product.

What Internet Speed Do I Need?

Most smart kitchen appliances use very little bandwidth - much less than streaming Netflix or video calling. We recommend minimum 10Mbps for a full smart kitchen, though most Doncaster homes have much faster connections. Bandwidth usage examples: Smart fridge: 1-2GB monthly Connected oven: 500MB monthly Smart dishwasher: 300MB monthly Voice assistant: 1GB monthly Problems usually come from poor wifi coverage rather than slow internet. We test signal strength throughout your kitchen and recommend improvements if needed.

Will Smart Appliances Work in My Old Doncaster Home?

Absolutely! We've successfully installed smart kitchens in Victorian terraces, 1960s semis, and modern builds across Doncaster. Each presents different challenges, but we've never found a home where smart appliances couldn't work. Common solutions for older homes: Wifi boosters for thick stone walls Additional electrical circuits for high-power appliances Updated wiring to handle smart appliance requirements Network optimization for multiple connected devices A couple in a 1920s house near Cusworth Hall were worried their home was too old for smart appliances. After upgrading their wifi network and adding one new electrical circuit, they now have a fully connected kitchen that works flawlessly.
